HikeAlong is run by CK Multimedia Group LLC. The gear page lists what comes along on the weekly hike, and each hike page lists what was in service that morning. Where an item links to Amazon, the link is an affiliate link.

As an Amazon Associate, HikeAlong earns from qualifying purchases. If you buy something through one of those links, Amazon pays a small commission. The price you pay does not change.

Gear is listed because it is used, never because it pays. Used is not tested: an item says "tested" only when a measured review exists and is linked; everything else says "used, not tested" in plain words. The mornings and miles beside each item are summed from the log over the dates it was in service, and no price appears anywhere on the site.

Buy links go through /go/ on this site, which sends you straight on. It is built to count those clicks without a cookie or your IP address (the item, the destination, where the link sat on the page, the page it came from and your browser's name), to learn which items people actually buy through the site; that count is not switched on, and the privacy page will say so if it ever is. Affiliate links carry rel="sponsored" in the page markup so search engines treat them correctly. Pages without gear carry no affiliate links at all.

Weather data on hike pages comes from Open-Meteo and the National Weather Service. Neither relationship involves payment.
