Privacy

HikeAlong is a static website. It runs no analytics script and loads nothing from advertising networks. Fonts and images are served from this domain. The only cookie-like storage is the setting that remembers you dismissed the notice about embedded YouTube videos and maps.

What is collected

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare keeps standard server logs (IP address, requested page, browser type, time of request) for security and performance, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. HikeAlong does not build visitor profiles from those logs. The contact form sends what you type to us by email and is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you are not a bot.

Embedded videos and maps

Trail reviews embed YouTube videos and Google Maps. Nothing loads from Google until you tap to play a video or load a map, and from that point Google's own privacy policy applies.

Outbound links

Links to Amazon, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook or other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies. Amazon links on gear lists may be affiliate links; see the affiliate disclosure.

Photos and location

Published photos have their embedded metadata removed. The camera settings shown on a page are chosen fields republished from the log, not the original file. Route maps show public trails.
