Laurel Ridge Trail

5.8 mi, 534 ft, sunrise 7:37 AM, clear, 64°F

Laurel Ridge at Buford Dam for the trail review, clockwise from Lower Overlook. A gray sky at sunrise with no color in it. The bridge into the ferny branch is still out, so it was the way around through the power easement and along the road. A deer in the woods past the first road crossing, goats and a big flock of geese on the face of the dam, and the new bridge across the Chattahoochee below the dam is finished.

On the Trail

Trail Conditions

  • The problem is the little bridge that used to go to that part was taken out by a tree many, many years ago, and they have yet to fix it.from the notes
  • It has a restricted area sign, so you have to walk past the automatic gate.from the notes
  • After crossing the road, it gets a tiny bit more technical, with more exposed roots and exposed granite that can be quite slippery when it gets wetfrom the notes
  • You can get on the trail from it as well, though this parking lot is often closedfrom the notes
  • Now, as we head back up to the road, we get into a power easement with a very narrow path that is or will be overgrown during the lush seasons.from the notes
  • Just keep in mind the bridge is not in the best shape, so watch your step, especially when it's covered in leaves in the fall and winterfrom the notes
  • And there are a couple of trees fallen over the trail.from the notes
  • They finally reinstated or rebuilt a scenic bridge that went across the river, and I love it.from the notes

Lifted word for word from that morning's notes, never rewritten. A line marked from the notes was picked out by a keyword such as closed, bridge or fallen. What the notes did not mention is not here.
